2026 - An amazing year for results at Poynton Sixth Form

Students have achieved excellent results across a broad range of A level and vocational courses, with 28% of all grades awarded at A or A*, representing an outstanding level of academic achievement across the cohort.

There were many exceptional individual performances. Russell B and Alexander P each achieved a remarkable four A* grades in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics. Other outstanding results included Ethan D, who secured three A* grades and an A, Lara B, who achieved three A* grades, and Natalie P, who gained three A* grades in Chemistry, Mathematics and Further Mathematics. Mia A, Harvey B, Iris D, Kate W and Sophie W were among a number of students who also recorded exceptional A* and A grade profiles.

The Sixth Form is equally proud of students who excelled on vocational pathways, with students achieving Distinction* grades in subjects including Health and Social Care and Sport, demonstrating the breadth of success across both academic and applied qualifications.

These results have opened the door to an impressive range of progression opportunities. We are particularly pleased that students will be taking up places at Oxbridge universities, progressing onto Medicine courses, and securing places on highly competitive degree apprenticeships with leading employers. The achievements of this year's cohort reflect both academic excellence and ambitious aspirations for the future.

We are especially delighted that these results will enable students to progress to some of the country's most prestigious destinations and highly sought-after degree apprenticeship programmes. These outcomes reflect the ambition that our students bring to their studies and the support they receive from staff, parents and carers throughout their time with us.

Behind every grade is a story of commitment, perseverance and personal growth, and we could not be prouder of what this cohort has achieved. We wish every member of the Class of 2026 every success as they begin the next exciting stage of their journey."

Poynton High School Celebrates Outstanding A Level and BTEC Results – Summer 2025

Poynton High School is thrilled to celebrate the remarkable achievements of its Sixth Form students following the release of the Summer 2025 A Level and BTEC results.

This year, 25% of all grades (A Level and BTEC) were awarded at grade A, distinction or above, reflecting the exceptional commitment, talent, and hard work of our students and staff. Many students have secured places on ambitious and competitive pathways, including top university courses and prestigious apprenticeships.

We are incredibly proud of the efforts of all of our young people, a small sample of successes include:

• Anna Martin achieved an incredible four A* grades and will study Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge.
• Joseph Parrott earned two A*s and an A, securing his place at the University of Cambridge to study History.
• Louis Cadwallader and Adam Lynam have gained entry into their firm choice universities to study Medicine.
• Hannah Blake will begin a prestigious degree-level apprenticeship with Amazon, relocating to London.
• Lucian Adderley Bruschett secured an A*, two A grades and a B, and will study Computer Science at university.
• Charlotte Barr achieved an A and two B grades, and will study Geology at the University of Birmingham.
• Daniel Birchall earned an A and two B grades, and will study Accounting and Finance at the University of Liverpool.
• Hannah Buckle achieved an A* in Drama, enabling her to pursue her acting passion further in Higher Education.
• Heather Davenport secured two A grades and a B, and will study Physiotherapy at the University of Liverpool.
• Niamh Davies will take her A* in Fine Art to study Fine Art at Newcastle University.
• Evan Jackson achieved an A*, an A and a B, and will study Journalism Studies at the University of Sheffield.
• Kate Morton has secured the grades needed to begin her next exciting chapter in Higher Education.
• Max Waterman will begin a degree apprenticeship in Civil Engineering with WSP Engineering Consultancy.
• Charlie Hodgson has secured grades to start as a trainee accountant with Harts. 

The achievements of the year group stretch far beyond the examples shared here and we have enjoyed celebrating with the students.
